Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Sign outside the Chapel of St. Sebastien in Sainte-Agnès, Alpes-Maritimes, France, showing some of the painting inside, by Michel-Marie Poulain. The text, translated to English, reads: "The chapel of St. Sebastian was probably built in the middle of the sixteenth century. It is a small chapel of protection located at a crossroads serving the coast, the nearby villages, and the mountain. It is named for Saint Sebastian, one of the oldest protectors against the plague. Very simple, opened by a large semicircular arch, it was later closed with a façade with windows and finally lined with a porch. The building now houses a collection of works by the painters Michel-Marie Poulain (1906-1991), who also decorated chapels in La Colle and Èze, and Jeanne Floch."
