Sanssouci, The Iron Gate which is shown in the pictures, was erected by Frederick the Great in 1745-7 as a principal entrance to the park and Castle of Sanssouci, his favourite residence. The Corinthian pillars, surmounted by groups of playing children, are a remarkable feature.
