Title
Potboiler
Description
English: A broken stone cobble which displays possible evidence of heating. The stone is rounded and water worn, and only half survives. The broken edge is a jagged irregular break. The stone also displays red colouration and further cracks which may be as a result of heating. It is possible the stone was used as a pot boiler; heated on the fire then plunged into a container of water to heat the water. It is 61mm long, 67mm wide and 38mm thick. It weighs 190g. Pot boilers were used throughout history and are impossible to date accurately.
