Title
postmedievalcopperspectaclebuckle
Description
English: Complete copper alloy cast double loop spectacle buckle, post medieval in date (c AD1550-1650). The buckle loops are oval in plan, joined by a central integral strap bar. On the outer edge of each loop and at either end of the strap bar is a moulded trefoil scallop design. The pin is complete and wrapped around the central bar. The pin is made of a thin piece of copper alloy, tapering to a tip. The frame is slightly bent but the buckle is in good condition. It has a dark greenish grey patina.

See Whitehead (2003) page 65.
