Post medieval silver head-dress pin.
Description
English: Complete silver head-dress pin, now bent at multiple points. Decorated alike on both faces. The upper rectangular section has a trefoil terminal, below which is a circular aperture, two transverse engraved lines, a rectangular aperture with dots to either side, two transverse engraved lines, an engraved line around an oval and then a rectangular aperture, two transverse lines which continue on the sides of the pin, a quatrefoil boss with a central engraved annulet and multiple lines on the petals, two transverse engraved lines which also continue around the sides, below which the edges of the pin are bevelled and the pin starts to taper towards the point, then longitudinal lines of varying lengths. Maximum width 6mm. Maximum thickness 2mm. Length 156mm. Weight 10.4g. 17th century.
