Title
Post medieval seal top spoon
Description
English:

Part of a copper alloy (latten) post medieval seal top spoon dating to the period c.AD 1550-1650. The fragment comprises the spoon knop. The terminus is a flat circular disk which tapers down to a broad collar, semi-circular in cross section. There is no evidence of initials on the disc. Below the collar it narrows before expanding to a tapering baluster which narrows further to a collar formed of two narrow bands. The knop ends in a worn break at the point where it would have attached to the handle, now missing. The knop is quite worn and has a green patina on the surface.

The knop measures 33.68mm in length, 14.70mm in diameter at the seal top and weighs 8.23g.

It is similar to ones referred to by Homer (1975) p.38 as type F which he dates to c AD 1550 - 1650.
