Title |
Post medieval pewter vessel leg; ewer |
||
Description |
English: A lead alloy (pewter?) leg from a vessel, probably an ewer. It dates from the late Medieval or Early Post Medieval periods. The leg is hexagonal in section and is 39.33mm long, 25mm wide and 17.2mm thick. The top end is an old break. At the base is a large flat foot in the style of a paw. Parallels of ewers with three legs can be seen in the Finds Research Group Datasheet 7; Bronze Aquamaniles and Ewers (1987) by J M Lewis. They date from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The leg weighs 31.36g. |
