Post medieval cast iron book clasp
Description
English: A late medieval or early post-medieval cast iron book clasp of Howsam type A.6.2. The plate is approximately rectangular (35.68mm wide x 21.28mm long x 1.02mm thick), the original shape and length is unknown due to corrosion. There are two approx. 3.88mm drilled probable rivet holes 14.3mm apart, lying parallel to the iron spindle (dia.1.79mm). This is held by two arms rolled over and around, forming a catchpiece. There is no decoration visible.
