Post medieval: Token of Pidcock's Menagerie
Description
English: A brass token issued by Pidcock's Menagerie of Exeter Change, the Strand in London between c1795 and 1801. The token depicts an elephant on the obverse and a two-headed cow on the reverse.

Obverse: An elephant (Chunee) facing left. PIDCOCKS EXHIBITION

Reverse: A two-headed cow facing right EXETER CHANGE STRAND LONDON

Chunee the elephant was shot as he was becoming bad-tempered and he was finally harpooned (see attached illustration).
