Post medieval: Sundial
Description
English: A fragment of a post medieval annular clock dial, c 150mm in diameter, made from thick copper alloy sheet. This is probably from a lantern clock of 17th century date.The fragment retains elements of two numbers (an upright is visible on the left and a possible VI on the right) with an inscribed branch between and divided circle arcs below.


Dr John Davis notes that the 'branched' pattern is a stylised fleur-de-lis, a common symbol for the half-hour mark (on both clocks and sundials).
