Title
Post medieval: Silver spoon
Description
English: A late 18th century silver tea spoon. The back of the bowl has a cast scene depicting a squirrel facing left, on a tree stump, with oak leaves below. On the handle terminal are the seriffed initials of the owner, MC. On the stem is a stamped lion (for London) and the maker's stamp TW. The maker's initials may be those of the London silversmiths Thomas Wallis (active 1773-8) or Thomas Willmore (active c1790), according to Jackson 1964. The spoon is a little worn and has been straightened by the finder.
