Title |
Post medieval: Fob seal |
||
Description |
English: A fob seal, probably of 18th century date. The seal is copper alloy, gilded and holds a glass matrix. The apex knop is filled with iron corrosion.
The pierced knop sits at the apex of a single strand loop which clasps the domed seal housing. The matrix itself is of blue glass and bears the image of a cinquefoil flower. The motto around the flower reads: MAY YOU POSSESS IT |
