Title
Post medieval: Complete sub annular buckle frame
Description
English: A complete copper alloy sub annular buckle frame, of Post Medieval dating (AD 1650 to AD 1720).

Only the buckle frame is present. The chape and pin are missing, presumably lost in antiquity. The buckle frame is sub annular in plan with bevelled edges. Iron corrosion products are present around the central bar, indicating that the pin may have been made from iron. The frame exhibits moulded decoration, consisting of oblique grooves on the front of the frame.

The buckle frame measures 25.7 mm in length, 20.8 mm wide and 4.0 mm thick. It weighs 3.4 grams.

The buckle frame is a dark green colour, with an even surface patina.

A similar buckle frame has been recorded as #283 by Whitehead (1996, p 49) and has been dated to the Early Post Medieval period (c. AD 1650 to AD 1720).
