Title
Post Medieval to Modern: Twisted gold ring, probable finger ring
Description
English: A complete hand made twisted gold wire, probable finger ring, of uncertain dating.

The probable finger ring has been made from two lengths of gold wire twisted together. The ends have been solded together. Due to post depositional pressure, the finger ring is no longer circular, but more ovoid (egg) shaped.

The finger ring measures 27.72 mm in length, 9.08 mm wide and 1.27 mm thick. It weighs 0.5 g.

The finger ring is a mid yellow colour, with a shiny surface.

It is probable that this artefact is a finger ring, although it is very thin for a finger ring, it may have been part of a decorative fitting. As it is undiagnostic on date and original function, it is considered to be outside of the remits of the Treasure Act 1996 and is considered not to be Treasure.
