Post Medieval rectangular double loop buckle fragment
Description
English: Post-Medieval cast copper alloy rectangular double loop buckle with all over moulded decoration, incomplete, roughly a third survives; 1620-1680. Trefoil knops on the corners and a rounded knop at the centre of each of the two surviving edges; moulded scrolled decoration on the obverse. Traces of tinning on obverse and reverse. Length (incomplete) 20mm, width (complete) 30.6mm, thickness 2.1mm, weight 2.76g. See Whitehead 1996 (‘Buckles 1250-1800’, Greenlight) p79 for similar (although not identical) buckles, dated to 1620-1680.
