Description |
English: A fragment of possible silver bodkin. It is broken at both ends and has been folded and bent. The shaft is broken at the tip and has a flattened hexagonal cross-section. at the widest end just below the head the shaft is decorated on both sides with a long incised elongated triangle with incised midline and a series of diagonal lines extending from it to the edge forming rough chevrons. At the head the object expands sideways and has a rectangular cross-section. Just before the break it is expanded again on either side into notched projections framing to small apertures. The head is decorated on both sides with two horizontal grooves, on one side with a single off centre vertical line and on the other with two between them. Above this it is decorated with two pairs of chevrons with smaller chevrons inside and further incised decoration of foliate or feather design in the angle between.
