Post Medieval gold finger rin - a posy ring
Description
English: A Post Medieval gold finger ring with internal inscription. The band has a d-shaped cross section. The exterior is decorated with deeply incised diagonal lines in two bands. There is a plain rim along both edges of the band. Inside the band is a latin inscription in upper and lower case serifed italic lettering.

Inscription: Beati qui in Dno moriuntur
There is a letter R stamped at the end of the inscription which is probably a maker's mark.
Date: Post Medieval - c 1600 - 1700
Dimensions: 17.85 mm x 2.81 mm x 1.17 mm

Weight: 1.77 g

The inscription is taken from Revelation Ch. 14 V. 13 beati (mortui) qui in Domino moriuntur - "blessed are the dead who die in the Lord"
