Title
Post Medieval copper alloy netting needle
Description
English: A Post Medieval copper alloy netting needle (16th century). The needle has a circular cross-section and the shaft is slightly curved. The needle has been made from two lengths of copper alloy wire, each with a D-shaped cross-section that have been soldered together to form the shaft leaving the two terminals forked (length of fork: 13.50mm). The ends of the forks have been pinched together. This sort of fine netting needle would have been used to produce netting for hair nets.

Dimensions: length: 111.72mm; width of split end: 2.76mm; diameter: 1.28mm; weight: 1.04g.
