Post Medieval coin: 2 soldi of the Republic of Genoa
Description
English: A post-medieval base silver 2 soldi piece of one of the Italian States, the Republic of Genoa, dating from AD 1710-1745. The obverse shows the value ('S 2') divided by an ornate crowned shield which contains a cross of St George. The reverse portrays the Madonna with a halo of stars, seated on clouds, and holding a staff and the infant Christ. The coin has a diameter of 18.26mm, a thickness of 1.01mm, and weighs 1.54g.
