Circumstances of discovery: Metal Detected.

Description: An incomplete Post Medieval silver bodkin: The pin is rectangular in section with slightly rounded edges tapers gradually to a blunt point at the lower terminal. The upper terminal is has a small trefoil knop above which is a small circular perforation. Further down the pin there is a rectangular slot whose sides have been squashed together. At approximately the midpoint, on one face there are the initials A E with a star in-between. The pin is bent in two places, due to damage rather than intention. The surface of the pin is slightly tarnished and scratched. It is apparent from a visual examination that the dress fastener is made from silver.
