Description |
English: Post Medieval cast copper alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle frame with one oval and one rectangular loop. There are projecting lobed knops on the outer corners of both loops and at the end of the strap bar. The loops are trapizoid in section with bevelled sides and a flat back. The outer edge of the rectangular loop has regular indents creating the appearence of four lobes in a row between the corner knops. The surface has a silvery appearence and appears tinned. The pin is missing. It is 23.4mm long, 18.3mm wide and 2.3mm thick; it weighs 2.56 grams.
Whitehead (2003:92) illustrates an identical example, no.574, which he dates to c.1575-1700 AD. |
