Title |
Post Medieval Trifid Spoon |
||
Description |
English: A cast copper alloy spoon handle of late 17th century date. The flat handle measures 65.9mm by 24.1mm by 1.4mm and weighs 6.2g. It has a trifid terminal, on one side of which initials are inscribed. These are very faint, but appear to read 'R A C'. This style of spoon first appeared soon after 1660 and went out of fashion by c. 1700 (R. F. Homer, 1975, 'Five Centuries of Base Metal Spoons', p. 43). |
