Description |
English: A frgament from a Post Medieval (AD 1550-1650) cast copper alloy buckle.
The fragment is from a double loop buckle, consisting of the side and outer edge of one loop and a stub of bar. The fragment is mishapened but the buckle was probably oval. There is lobed protrusion on the outer edge of the loop, there is no decoration where the strap bar joins the frame. in cross-section the frame is a sub-oval and tilted, with it outer side being a quarter circle. The strap bar is round and narrowed. The buckle is grey green in colour. Weight 2.64g Length of fragment 26.9mm, width of fragment 25.0mm, frame thickness 2.9mm, knop thickness 3.2mm. for potential parallels see Whitehead (page 62-63 specifically no 371-3 / 376-378) |
