Post Medieval Coin Weight of James I Rose Ryal
Description
English: A cast copper alloy coin weight dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is square in plan and cross-section for checking the rose ryal of James I. One side shows the value XXX/S (thirty-shillings) with a crown above. The other side has a shield depicting the Stuart arms of England within a rose. The weight has a dark brown patina and is corroded in places.
