Title
Post Medieval Cannon Ball
Description
English: A Post-Medieval lead or lead alloy shot or small cannon ball probably dating from about 1500-1800 AD. It weighs 80.14g and is 25.9mm in diameter. It is sub spherical and has presumably been cast; however, no casting flanges are present. The ball has been flattened in some areas, which may be the result of impact; the surface has several scrapes throughout and a number of deep gouges on one side. The cannon ball has a creamy grey-white patina. Please compare to PAS record IDs: SWYOR-2BB9A6, LANCUM-0EF770 and HESH-0A8E63.

At about 1 inch in diameter, this shot could have been used in a Rabinet Cannon, but it is not the standard weight. It is also possible it is an idiosyncratic lead weight or even waste material.
