Title
Post Medieval Candlestick
Description
English: An incomplete Post Medieval cast copper alloy candlestick, c. 16th century AD. The remains of the candlestick consist of the cylindrical cup, with a small socketed stem. The cup is decorated with two wide incised bands near the perimeter of the cup opening, followed by two similar bands in the middle and then two further bands at the base. The stem has one raised band at the junction of the cup and stem, followed by a large projecting discoidal collar near the end of the stem, followed by a socket. The rest of the candlestick stem and base are missing. The object is of a dark green patina, with some areas of lighter green corrosion. It measures 70.18 mm high, 26.05 mm in diameter at the cup opening and weighs 112 grams.

Similar examples dating to 1530-1570 AD are illustrated in Egan 1998, p81.
