Title |
Post Medieval Asymmetrical Double Looped Buckle |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete Post Medieval buckle, consisting of a cast copper alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle frame dating to c. 1575-1700 AD. The buckle frame is complete, although it has been broken due to a bend near the strap bar. The frame has one rounded loop and one squared loop, with a tri-lobed knop at the end of the round loop and at either end of the narrowed strap bar. There are moulded ribs running the length of the frame; the underside is flat and undecorated. The buckle is missing its pin. It measures approximately 19.30 mm long, 14.08 mm wide at strap bar, 1.18 mm thick and weighs 0.89 grams.
For related examples, cf. Whitehead 2003, p92, esp. Nos. 580 and 584. |
