Title |
Post Medieval Asymmetrical Buckle |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy asymmetrical shoe or knee buckle with drilled frame for a separate spindle, c. 1660-1720. The buckle frame is roughly D-shaped in plan, with a pointed outer edge to the loop; its frame is drilled with the remains of an iron spindle, which would have formed the buckle frame into two asymmetrical loops. The central spindle segment is now missing, as is the pin. It measures 27.3 mm long, 21 mm wide and 2 mm thick; it weighs 4.6 grams. Cf. Whitehead 2003, No. 598. |
