Post Medieval Asymmetrical Buckle |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy Post Medieval buckle, c. 1575-1700 AD. The remains consist of a double loop asymmetrical buckle from with lobed knops on the external corners of the rectangular loop, at either end of the strap bar and at two symmetrical points on the outer edge of the rounded loop. It has a narrowed strap bar; the pin is missing. The condition of the metal surface is very poor, with a large degree of corrosion and uneven green and orange-red colouration. The buckle frame measures 26.34 mm long, 17.45 mm wide at square loop end, 17.51 mm wide at circular loop end, 2.41 mm thick and weighs 2.20 grams. Cf. Whitehead 2003, No. 575. |
