Title
Post-medieval thimble
Description
English: A complete, copper alloy closed-dome thimble, dating to the post-medieval period, c. AD 1500-1650. Circular indentations cover the outer surface, rising in close lines following a left handed spiral from the plain edge band to a small tonsure on the crown of the thimble. The irreular shape and spacing of the indentations suggests that they were hand-punched. The walls of the thimble are fairly thick and even, although it is slightly irregular in shape.

Height 22.0mm, diameter 19.9mm, thickness 0.7mm, weight 6.79g.
