Title
Post-medieval spectacle buckle frame
Description
English: Small cast cu-alloy spectacle buckle with double oval frame dating from the late medieval or post-medieval period, that is c. AD1350-1700. Flat reverse and slightly domed obverse; bevelled edges. No decoration.

P Ottaway suggests that "...in well-dated assemblages from London, examples of double oval frames, sometimes made of iron, but largely of copper alloy, are usually from mid-14th to mid-15th century contexts. Copper alloy examples from Norwich suggest that the form remained current until the 17th century." (P. Ottaway in Meols, p. 189)
