Post-medieval scabbard chape
Description
English: A complete silver scabbard chape dating to the early post-medieval period (c. 1500-1650). The chape tapers to a rounded tip and is triangular in section. It is mostly undecorated, except for stamping around the rim on which traces of gilding remain. There are some general signs of wear, including a post-depositional puncture towards the tip. It is formed of a single sheet of silver, with a possible solder seam running vertically from the open end to the point. A similar object is <a href="https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/456733">LIN-94F6B4</a>.
