Title |
Post-medieval pot leg |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete leg from a cast, copper alloy, cooking vessel of probable post-medieval date (c. AD 1200-1600). The foot section of the leg survives, which is roughly D-shaped in section with a concave back and steep curving front. The front is formed of four shallow, concave grooves which run down from a prominent collar, above which the leg has broken. These grooves divide either side of a large, central, outwardly curved section, which is reminiscent of an animal's paw, this terminates in a slightly flared, hoof-like foot.
Length 42.8mm, width 37.5mm, thickness 18,6mm, weight 138.47g. |
