Title |
Post-medieval pipe tamper |
||
Description |
English: A complete, cast copper alloy anthromorphic pipe tamper in the shape of a heeled and booted leg, c. AD 1700-1900. The middle section of the boot displays a number of wrinkled folds, with its top ending just before the knee. The tamper is irregular in shape and section, and is slightly L shaped, bending at the knee, before widening out towards the top of the thigh. The tamper end across the top of the thigh is cross hatched with a lozenge/diamond shaped pattern. The tamper has a mid-green patina. Similar shaped tampers are recorded on the PAS database: SWYOR-70D187, PUBLIC-E42026. |
