Title
Post-medieval jews harp
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy Jew's harp dating to the post-medieval period (c. AD 1500-1800). The fragment comprises one of the arms and half of the head. Most of the Jew's harps recorded on the PAS database are composite objects, with the frame made of copper alloy (as in this case) and the tongue (missing on this object) of iron. The surviving arm is lozengiform in cross-section and tapers to a sharp point. There is a worn rectangular notch at the break which would originally have held the rabbet, used to attach the tongue to the head.
