Title |
Post-medieval double-looped asymmetrical buckle frame |
||
Description |
English: A slightly worn and corroded cast asymmetrical double-looped buckle frame of post-medieval date. This example is incomplete in so far as it is missing its pin. One loop of the buckle is D-shaped, while the other is rectangular. There is a central notch on the upper surface of the outer edge of the latter. In general the lower surface of the buckle is flat and undecorated. The edges of the upper surface are bevelled internally and externally. The buckle has a mid-grey colour with some traces of red-brown corrosion product at the centre of the pin bar suggesting that the pin may have been made of iron. Similar examples can be found illustrated in Whitehead (1996, 92). |
