Title
Post-medieval double-looped asymmetrical buckle frame
Description
English: A worn and incomplete cast lead-alloy post-medieval double-looped buckle frame of asymmetrical form. One loop is rectangular while the other is oval with a pointed outer edge. The pin bar features orange staining around its centre, suggesting that the pin, now missing, was made of iron. The reverse is flat, and the frame slightly bevelled internally and externally. The outer edges seem slightly moulded, as if to take a pin, although wear and corrosion now obscures original features. Viewed in profile the oval loop has been bent upwards as a result of old damage. Such buckles tend to be attributed a 17th-century date (see Whitehead 1996, 91).
