Title
Post-medieval double-looped asymmetrical buckle
Description
English: Cast copper alloy double-loop asymmetrical buckle with moulded lobed knops on the external corners of the D-shaped loop and at either end of the narrowed strap bar. The other loop is almost square in plan and the frame has a flat base and narrows towards the upper surface so that it is triangular in section.

Traces of black lacquer remain in the upper surface of the frame, but otherwise the buckle is a light green colour from the copper alloy corrosion product.

The buckle is 36 mm long, 22 mm wide and 3.4 mm in thickness, and the strap bar is 20 mm long and 3 mm in thickness.

Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar example on page 92, No.576, which is dated to c.1575-1700.
