Post-medieval double-loop asymmetrical buckle
Description
English: A copper-alloy double-loop asymmetrical buckle of suggested late 16th to late 17th century AD date (R. Whitehead; 1996; pp. 92).

The incomplete trapezoidal side of the frame tapers towards the central axis bar, has angled upper surfaces and a series of moulded lobes along is vertical edge. The other side of the buckle is D-shaped, also has angled surfaces and a projecting rounded knob on each "corner". The axis bar is of semi-circular section and has a protrusion at the top and bottom. The underside of the buckle is flat and both faces of the object retain traces of silvering or tinning. The pin is missing.

The buckle measures 31.3mm long, 21.8mm wide and 1.9mm thick. The weight is 2.85g.
