Title |
Post-medieval copper-alloy buckle |
||
Description |
English: A cast copper-alloy buckle frame of post-medieval date, probably dating from the 17th century. The buckle was originally double looped with a separate spindle, now missing, though the drilled holes are visible on the frame. The buckle has moulded decoration with seven ribs at each end forming a 'scallop' effect. There is also moulded ribbing at the frame either side of the spindle holes.The frame is convex on the front, convex on the rear. It measures 32.59 mm long, 22.19 mm wide, 3.77 mm thick and weighs 4.1 grams. It is well preserved and has a smooth dark grey patina. |
