Title
Post-medieval buckle: Spectacle buckle
Description
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy double looped or spectacle buckle, dating to the post-medieval period (c. AD 1500-1700). The remaining buckle consists of one half of the double loop; the central strap / pin bar is retained, as is one D-shaped frame. The outer edge of the frame is expanded and appears to have moulded rope-scroll decoration, or three roughly diagonal moulded grooves. The reverse of the buckle is plain.
