Title
Post-medieval bell
Description
English: An incomplete, cast copper alloy early post medieval crotal bell, c.16th century AD, 26.6mm in diameter. The square suspension loop is 12.6mm wide and the small aperture would appear to have been drilled. The upper hemisphere has opposing sound holes and a small channel which may be a casting flaw. The lower hemisphere of the bell is damaged with a section missing, it has moulded decoration of a sunburst/petal decoration. The bell is quite crude, and heavy, with the interior filled with debris. The surface is smooth, and has a dark green patination. There are no maker's marks visible.
