Title
Post-medieval asymmetrical double-looped buckle frame
Description
English: A worn and corroded cast asymmetrical double-looped buckle frame of post-medieval date. This example is incomplete in so far as it is missing its pin. One loop of the buckle is D-shaped, while the other is rectangular. The former features a centrally moulded knop on its outer edge. The outer edge of the other loop seems to feature a double knopped moulding, possibly a pin rest. In general the lower surface of the buckle is flat and undecorated. The edges of the upper surface are bevelled internally and externally; the latter slightly more shallowly. The buckle has corroded to a dark green colour with some areas of lighter corrosion product. There are possible traces of iron corrosion product around the pin bar. The buckle is imperfectly moulded and not quite flat on its lower surface as a result. Similar examples can be found illustrated in Whitehead (1996, 92).
