Title
Post-medieval asymmetrical buckle
Description
English: A post-medieval cast copper-alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle with one oval and one rectangular loop. There are projecting lobed knops on the outer corners of both loops and at the end of the strap bar. The loops are trapezoidal in cross-section with bevelled sides and a flat back. The outer edge of the rectangular loop has regular indents creating the appearance of four lobes in a row between the corner knops. The surface has a silvery appearance and has been tinned. A heavily corroded but complete iron pin survives looped around the pin bar.

Whitehead (2003, 92) illustrates an identical example, no.574, which he dates to c. AD 1575-1700.
