Description
English: A copper-alloy fragment, probably from an S-shaped belt-fastener of late 16th to 17th century date (Geake, 2001, p. 36). For a parallel on the PAS database, see BH-EEBCE4.

The piece comprises one of the fastener's zoomorphic terminals. The terminal is of typical form, having the appearance of a creature resembling a snake or swan. The animals has a beak-like nose, cast feather-like indentations on the back of the head and further feathers or scales on the the curved neck. The neck is oval in section and the object has a light green patina.

The piece measures 17.6mm long, 12mm wide and 5.5mm thick. The weight is 3.9g.
