Title |
Post-medieval : Toy |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete lead anthropomorphic toy of late post-medieval date. The object represents a human figure from the waist down with the upper body having been lost to worn breaks. The figure is hollow and wearing a wrap around skirt, similar to a kilt or long coat, with trousers underneath. The feet are spread apart with the right leg slightly in front of the left. The feet are placed on a sub-rectangular, flat piece of lead and are held in place by rivets which are visible on the base. Faint text is also present on the base of the object though is now to worn to be determined. A casting line is present up the sides of both legs. The figure is likely to be part of a toy soldier.
The metal is a greyish-white colour and is worn. The figure is 33.5mm long, 20.4mm wide, 14.6mm thick and weighs 14.4g. |
