Title
Post-medieval : S-shaped clasp
Description
English: A cast copper alloy S-shaped clasp. The clasp is molded with a central knopped band from which extend the necks of two beasts, possibly dragons, forming an S shape. The heads are fairly crudely molded and the casting line is clearly visible along the edges of the object. An area of iron corrosion product on the centra of one side of the clasp is the probable remains of an attachment loop. The object is worn, and the original surface has been removed, exposing the bright yellow metal beneath. Parallels for this type of clasp exist from the post medieval period, although the style continues in use to the present day.
