Title
Post-medieval : Candle trimmer
Description
English: A cast copper alloy pair of candle trimmers. The object is formed from two arms of copper alloy, joined in the centre via a copper alloy rivet. The rivet allows the object to open and close like a pair of scissors. The rivet has a domed head on the upper surface. The cutting edges are flat and rectangular, while the handles are decoratively moulded with double or triple collars. The cutting parts of the trimmers are both broken and damaged. The metal is a mid brownish-green colour and very pitted. These trimmers probably date to the late medieval period, circa 14th - 16th Century.
