Title
Post-Medieval double-loop asymmetrical buckle
Description
English: A copper-alloy double-loop asymmetrical buckle of suggested post-Medieval date.

One side of the frame is 'D-shaped', the other is sub-rectangular. The width of frame in the heavily damaged 'D-shaped' portion widens towards the centre of its curved outer side, where there is a pin rest. A vertical groove extends along this vertical side. The sub-rectangular side of the frame also has a wider pin rest at the centre, is also decorated with a vertical groove, and extends to a point on each outer corner. The off-centre axis bar is of oval section.

Dimensions: 20.7mm long, 16.3mm wide, 1.7mm thick. Weight: 1.5g.

Similar buckles are illustrated by Whitehead (1996: 91, cf. no. 573), for which he suggests a late 16th to late 17th/early 18th century date.
