Post-Medieval double-loop asymmetrical buckle
Description
English: A copper-alloy double-loop asymmetrical buckle of post-Medieval date.

One side of the buckle is 'D-shaped', while the other is trapezoidal. The two sides are separated by a central axis bar of triangular section, which extends to a knop at each end. In addition, there are two angled knops projecting from the 'corners' of the 'D-shaped' side of the frame. The wider vertical end of the trapezoidal half of the frame has a toothed outer edge. The surfaces of the frame have been silvered or tinned. The artefact measures 24.4mm long, 19.1mm wide, 1.8mm thick and weighs 2.13g.

Similar buckles are illustrated by Whitehead, who suggests a late 16th to late 17th century date (1996: 92).
